| Student Center |
| With a total floor area of 15,576§³, the Student Center is a sprawling center of student life on campus. It contains the office of student representatives, club activity rooms, a restaurant, canteen, bookstore, souvenir shop, pharmacy, lounges and other convenient facilities. The Student Center is also home to the Center for Campus Life and Culture, Health Services Center and other facilities offering services frequently used by students. |
| Faculty Apartment |
| The Faculty Apartments are housing facilities for SNU's faculty members. Located near the rear gate, the Faculty Apartments provide the ideal living conditions for professors to focus on their research and instruction. The apartments are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and compared to other housing in the city, are of reasonable price. Foreign faculty have priority in the selection process. |
| The Book Café, located on the fourth floor of the Central Library, was built to add a ¡°softer¡± touch to the intensely competitive academic atmosphere of this most typical place to study. Here, on the comfortable, personal couches, students can read through the latest newspapers and magazines, type away on their laptops, or surf the Web on the computers provided. |
| Milk-cartons |
| Milk-cartons, SNU¡¯s version of hackysack, is one pastime that is unique only to SNU. The popular game was introduced in 1976, when SNU¡¯s main campus was relocated to Gwanak from Hyehwa-dong, and there were virtually no forms of entertainment around the new campus. |
| Stadium |
| SNU's Stadium is located in the center of the campus. It holds an artificial grass field, running tracks, and basketball courts. The stadium is home to many of SNU¡¯s field sports teams, and is also open to various intramural sports events. |
| Doore Cultural Center |
| The Doore Cultural Center is a building dedicated solely to supporting student activities. A 130-seat concert hall located in the building's basement is an ideal place for student performances. Practice rooms are also located within the building, attracting devotees of music and drama. On the third floor, a seminar room is open for students conducting discussions. The foreign students lounge is also located on the third floor. The Student Services Center and the Career Development Center are also located in the Doore Cultural Center. |
| "Fiat justitia, ruat caelum" |
| The Korean translation of the Latin maxim, ¡°Fiat justitia, ruat caelum¡±, or "Let justice be done, though the heavens fall" is encrypted under the Bell of Justice in the College of Law. Students of law are reminded of the value of justice as they walk past these urging words. |
| Radio Astronomical Observatory |
| Under the jurisdiction of SNU¡¯s Astronomy Group, the Radio Astronomical Observatory is located at the foot of Gwanak Mountain. The Observatory boasts a 6-meter radius scope, and is able to observe the cosmic radio waves using 85-115 GHz frequencies, enabling SNU faculty and students to conduct research on the dynamics of our galaxy. |
| Waterfall by the College of Engineering |
| Near the College of Engineering, the streams of Gwanak Mountain converge, forming a 6-7 meter waterfall. In 2005, a small park was set up in the area, providing an ideal retreat for students in need of rest. |
| Jungam Hill |
| Jungam Hill is named after Professor Emeritus Oh Byung-Nam of the Department of Aesthetics. Upon sending off his students to study overseas, Professor Oh encouraged students to plant trees on campus as a way to leave something behind which they could come back to later and remember their days at SNU. Today, 7 oak, maple, and poplar trees grow on the hill. |
