Kwanak-sa Student Dormitory

Kwanak-sa Dormitory (also spelled ¡®Gwanak-sa¡¯), houses almost 4,000 students and is located near the rear gate of the campus. Seven buildings (911~917) constitute the old block (googwan) and 6 buildings (921~926) constitute the new block (shingwan). Most of the rooms are double occupancy with large communal restrooms, partitioned shower stalls, and laundry rooms located on each floor. Each building in these blocks has a reading room and fully furnished resting areas equipped with sofas, tables, TV/VCR, air-conditioning, refrigerators, and microwaves. Buildings 918 and 919A~919D provide different housing options than the new and old blocks. Building 918 provides single occupancy rooms. Buildings 919A~D are apartment style dwellings, which provide suites with 3 double occupancy bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, and a balcony. Each of these buildings has cafeterias and laundry rooms on the first floor. Building 919A~D also has a guardhouse, mentor rooms, and resting area on the second floor and even a fitness center on its first floor. Fingerprint scanning for entry into the buildings allows for added security.

Although very popular, these rooms are more expensive and availability is very limited, with priority given to students in doctorate programs.

Housing contract terms are one academic year beginning in March. Though the contract term is one year, you may still be asked to move into another building during the summer vacation.

Applications for Gwanak-sa Dormitory are only available online.

If you do not get admitted into a dormitory, you can have your name placed on a waiting list, which will be valid for one semester. If you are still not assigned to a dorm by the end of the semester, you must sign up again to be placed back on the waiting list.

Once admitted, submit the following documents to the Dormitory Management Office (Building 900, Office 313). You may not mail in these documents. Necessary documents are as follows:

1. A copy of your passport
2. Letter of Admission
3. Medical Certificate (issued in the past 3 months, with the results of a chest X-ray)
