The Division of Academic Affairs is responsible for the following: Planning for academic administration, Opening and closing graduate/undergraduate departments and courses, Managing curriculum, Administrating master's and doctoral degree programs. .
The Division of Educational Affairs is responsible for the following: Issuing student
identification, Classifying qualified students for registration, and Administrating re-admission,
leave of absence, course withdrawal, expulsion, and admonition of students.
As SNU is a national university, its faculty are also government employees. Therefore, SNU faculty are guaranteed their titles by law, and are not subject to leave from duty or any form
of resignation unless stipulated otherwise by law. This also means that SNU faculty are also subject to laws that regulate the duties and rights of government officials. For example, faculty who are declared legally incompetent or are under criminal punishment are ineligible for government service, and therefore are automatically discharged from their SNU position. However, when an SNU faculty member is called to work for a governmental institution or organization, or becomes a National Assembly Member, the School ensures that no disadvantages are given to the faculty member.
Key issues discussed here include faculty titles, initial appointment, contract renewal, promotion, tenure, leave of absence, disciplinary action and overseas travel.
Further regulations and specific rules are outlined in the SNU Tenure-Track Faculty and Teaching Assistant Appointment Regulations.
