A. In principle, initial appointment for Tenure-Track Faculty takes place twice a year, within 1 month prior to the commencement of a new semester. |
| Minimum Required Years of Experience before Initial Appointment |
A. The minimum required years of educational or research experience for initial appointees for their respective positions are as follows, with exceptions for appointees with extraordinary
i. Professor: 14 years
ii. Associate Professor: 9 years
iii. Assistant Professor: 5 years
iv. Full-Time Lecturers: 3 years

| Application Evaluation |
A. Evaluation criteria for candidates are as follows:
i. Basic and Subject Evaluation
1. Suitability of candidate¡¯s field of expertise to available positions
2. Research products of last 3 years
3. Overall research achievements
ii. Interview
1. Open presentation or open lecture
2. Personal statement and instruction or research plan
3. Appointment suitability
B. Specific standards, weights, methods, etc. for the above evaluation criteria are evaluated by the Promotion and Tenure Committee and finalized by the dean of each school. |
| Research Product Evaluation |
|
A. The candidate¡¯s research products will be given a grade among ¡°¼ö¡± (5 points), ¡°¿ì¡± (4 points), ¡°¹Ì¡± (3 points), ¡°¾ç¡± (2 points), and ¡°°¡¡± (1 point), by 5 evaluators. The final grade is determined by neglecting the highest and lowest grades and calculating the average of the remaining 3 grades. |
| Acceptable Research Products and Conversion Rates |
A. Acceptable research products pertinent to the candidate¡¯s field of expertise include the following
i. Published books
ii. Published translations
iii. Papers published in academic periodicals or collections
iv. Achievements such as presentations, exhibitions, or selections (Fine Arts and Physical Education candidates)
v. Other achievements (designs, projects)
vi. Compilations, editions, master¡¯s thesis or dissertation (requires approval from Promotion
and Tenure Committee)
B. Specifics and possible disputes regarding the above criteria will be determined and mediated by the Promotion and Tenure Committee.
C. The conversion rates for research products are as follows. However, if the candidate is
the first author of a joint study or a correspondent author, then the candidate is eligible for
70 points.
i. Independent Study: 100 points
ii. 2 coauthors: 70 points
iii. 3 coauthors: 50 points
iv. 4 coauthors or more: 30 points
D. Point conversion for practice in the fine arts or physical education is as stipulated in Appendix 2.

| Qualifications of Research Products |
|
A. The candidate must submit his or her last 3 years of research products equivalent to 200
to 400 points. However, if needed, the dean of the respective school may shorten the required time frame and increase the required points, after consultation with the Promotion and Tenure Committee.
