SNU extends a warm welcome to international students seeking to attend a master¡¯s or doctoral program. As a premier research institution in Korea, graduate programs are gaining increasing importance. International candidates include both foreign applicants and Korean students who have received entire education (from elementary to high school) abroad. All 71 graduate majors and 27 cooperative programs, not to mention our 6 professional graduate schools, are open to you. In addition to joining 2,300 international students who are already enjoying an excellent education and vibrant campus life at SNU, you will be a part of a remarkable educational institution with close to 4,000 of the best faculty in the nation and a fast growing number of foreign faculties. Who is eligible to apply?
For the Master¡¯s Degree Program:
International applicants who meet all of the following requirements:
1) He or she must hold a Bachelor¡¯s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree
2) Neither the applicant nor his/her parents are citizens of Korea
Applicants of Korean origin who meet all of the following requirements:
1) He or she must have received his/her entire elementary, junior high, high school, and undergraduate education outside of Korea at a comparable and equivalent level to that provided in Korea
2) He or she must hold a Bachelor¡¯s degree, or is considered by the admissions committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
Notes for applicants of Korean origin:
In order to apply as an international student, the applicant must submit: 1) information regarding all entries and exits into and out of Korea, and
2) official transcripts from all previously attended institutions (elementary, junior high, high school, etc.). For specific documentation requirements, refer to the preparation process.
For the Doctoral Degree Program
International applicants who meet all of the following requirements:
1) He or she must hold a master¡¯s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree
2) Neither the applicant nor his/her parents are citizens of Korea
Applicants of Korean origin who meet all of the following requirements:
1) He or she must have received his/her entire elementary, middle school, high school, and undergraduate education outside of Korea at a comparable and equivalent level of that provided in Korea
2) He or she holds a master¡¯s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.

Criteria
1) Admissions decisions are based on the candidate¡¯s academic achievements and potential, as well as his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership.
2) The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidate¡¯s application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement, and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant¡¯s academic goals and suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.
3) Interviews, examinations, and/or additional documents may be required from the applicant, based on the admission policy of the specific college or department, if the applicant is applying to the College of Arts, College of Music or the Department of Physical Education. The applicant will be notified individually as necessary.
