| For currently
attending graduate students |
More than 47 percent of the graduate students at Seoul National University are honored with scholarships. Especially for students studying Science or Engineering, there is a special national scholarship program called National Science & Engineering Grants, which financially supports the students demonstrating academic excellence or excellence in research in the field of Science and Engineering. However, this scholarship applies to the students who currently hold Korean citizenship, and Foreign Students Scholarships are applied for foreign graduate students at SNU.

their tuition waived through Tuition Grants for Overseas
Graduate Students, and the Lecture Research Support Scholarship.
These scholarships are awarded each semester at the Office
of International Affairs or at the administration office
of each department depending on the program. |

| Foreign graduate students
and overseas Koreans may apply for this scholarship program.
Students who earned a GPA of 3.0 or above in the preceding
semester may submit an application for this program. The

| manages the entire application procedure, and the recipients get a tuition waiver up to maximum of 4 semesters. Students studying on national funds and government invitation are exempt from paying tuition fees, and others are partially exempt from paying tuition fees. If a recipient stays out of university without registering as a scholarship student after the selection, the recipient will be revoked of his or her scholarship privileges. |

| Lecture & Research
Support Scholarship |
| Graduate students who exhibit excellence
in an academic or research field may be awarded this scholarship
by being recommended by their academic advisors. Each professor
is able to recommend one student amongst the current graduate
students in a master¡¯s or doctoral program, or a researcher
who has completed either a master¡¯s or doctoral program, but
has yet to receive their degree. For graduate students in a
master¡¯s program, the full tuition fee is waived, and a stipend
of 200,000 won per month is paid directly to the student¡¯s personal
bank account. For doctoral students, the conditions are the
same except the recipients are given a monthly stipend of 300,000
won. If a professor recommends a researcher who has completed
a master¡¯s course without gaining a degree, the researcher is
given 500,000 won per month, and for a researcher who has completed
a doctoral program without gaining a degree, 900,000 won is
paid to the recipient every month. This scholarship is awarded
for 2 academic years maximum. |

| Brain Korea 21
(BK 21) Scholarship Program |
| Brain Korea 21 Scholarship is designed by the Korean government to promote extensive research in universities by sponsoring researchers of excellent performance in prominent fields. Graduate students working with a professor who undertake BK 21 projects are sponsored 500,000 to 1,500,000 won each month for those in a master¡¯s program, and 900,000 to 2,000,000 won per month for those in a doctoral program upon recommendation by the professor. The Office of Research is in charge of the application procedure for this scholarship program. |

| Teaching Assistant
(T.A.) Scholarship |
| Graduate students who work as
a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Liberal Education receive
a monthly stipend of 600,000 won for a T.A. who assists Core
Courses and 300,000 won for others. In order to work as a T.A.
a student must be recommended by his or her advisor. Recipients
of this scholarship cannot be awarded other concurrent scholarships. |

| Work-Study Scholarship |
International graduate students
may be offered a limited number of Work-Study Scholarship opportunities
through selection from the applicant¡¯s department. Recipients
work as administration assistants in the administration office
of their department, and an 800,000 won monthly stipend is paid
to the recipient directly to his or her personal bank account.
There is another work-study scholarship to sponsor foreign graduate students who wish to earn money for their living expenses. Recipients mainly work as librarian¡¯s assistants for 10 to 15 hours a week, with 6,000 won per hour, or 300,000 won per month, being guaranteed.
