More than 47 percent of the graduate students at Seoul National University are honored with scholarships. Especially for students studying Science or Engineering, there is a special national scholarship program called National Science & Engineering Grants, which financially supports the students presenting excellence in the field of Science and Engineering. However, this scholarship applies to the students who currently hold Korean citizenship, and Foreign Students Scholarships are applied for foreign graduate students at SNU.

There are two types of Financial Aid programs at SNU for overseas graduate students who currently hold Korean citizenship. Students are able to support themselves by borrowing money through the Government Student Loan Program at a low annual interest rate of 6 to 8 percent. Priority is given to those demonstrating an excellent academic performance. Amongst these students, SNU sponsors students who are not able to pay the annual interest in the form of a scholarship program. Students who wish to receive this scholarship are encouraged to contact the administration office of their department for the application form and requirement details. The awarded money (loan) will be sent to the applicant¡¯s personal bank account.
