HOME Admissions Transfer |
| SNU welcomes all outstanding international
students and transfer students. Currently there are 2,300 international students at SNU and many of them are transfer students. As an international student, you can transfer into either the 2nd year or 3rd year of our school curriculum. Course credits previously earned at other institutions may be transferred to SNU. |

|
| How are my
credits transferred? |
Transferrable credits will be evaluated by comparing the course curricula of SNU and your previous school. You may receive 33~49 transfer credits if you transfer into our 3rd academic semester. 50~65 credits and 66~68 credits can be transferred if you transfer into our 4th academic semester and 5th academic semester respectively.
If you are planning to transfer to the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, or the College of Veterinary Medicine, you need to know about the special system of these colleges in Korea. Students in the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, and the College of Veterinary Medicine go through two levels of course programs, a two-year pre-med course and a four-year regular course. All students must complete the pre-med course before proceeding to the regular course. However, if you have already completed a pre-med course outside SNU, you will be exempt from taking the course at SNU.
You will have to earn about 62~100 more course credits to meet the requirements of a major in SNU and fulfill the distributional requirements for the bachelor¡¯s degree (graduation requirements). |
| The transfer credits
that you will receive for each division of courses are
as follows: |
| 1) |
General Education (equivalent to liberal arts
courses)
You may receive transfer credits for General Education
up to the minimum required credits of General Education
for graduation. |
|
|
| 2) |
Majors
Your transfer credits for major courses cannot exceed one third
of the number of credits of major courses required for graduation.
However, there may be exceptions regarding mandatory major courses. |
| 3) |
General Electives
If total transfer credits exceed transferrable general education
credits and major credits, the residual credits may be counted
as general elective credits. |
For credits transferred as general education course credits,
the titles of the courses and their grades will be shown on
your SNU transcript. However, titles of the courses and grades
will not be listed for the credits transferred as general electives;
only the number of credits earned will be recorded. If you already
have a bachelor¡¯s degree, you are deemed to have fulfilled the
necessary credits for general education, and only the number
of credits you earned in previous institutions will be shown
on your transcript.
You may raise any objections within a month of receiving the
transferrable credit notice.
The College may revise its previous evaluation if there are
any reasonable causes. |
