[Interview] Professor KWON Yong Jin of the SNU School of Medicine stressed the importance of consumer rights in choosing doctors and medicine, along with the necessity to solve the financial problems with regards to health insurance. For patients to be able to have a choice in selecting doctors, medications or health insurance, KWON suggested the government play an active role by opening to the public certain records regarding doctors, such as their alma mater or the length of time he/she has practiced medicine. This, Kwon said, would eventually lead to establishing a sustainable health insurance system and further added that doctors and pharmacists should stop fighting for their own profits.
