[Research] SNU Hospital announced that the team led by Professor CHANG Sun O in the ear-nose-and-throat department have succeeded in implanting the Vibrant Sound bridge into a 56-year-old patient with difficulties in hearing, which is the first such operation in South Korea. The Vibrant Soundbridge is a new form of hearing aid for those who have difficulties using ordinary hearing aids. An advantage of this device is that, unlike other hearing aids, it is hardly seen by other people. Professor Chang hoped that it will be a good alternative for the hard of hearing.

[Figures] The Yonhap News interviewed SNU President OH Yeon Cheon as August 2 was the first anniversary of his inauguration. A year ago in his inaugural address, he emphasized the "affection for humans". This philosophy has been reflected in the new scholarship policy. These changes have been pursued in a rather 'quiet' way. In this respect, many people consider him as having a quieteleadership style. The greatest hardship for him was related to the University Autonomy Legislation. Students even occupied the administrative headquarter of SNU. President Oh visited the occupied site and tried to talk with students to solve this problem. At last, after long discussions between representatives of students and SNU, students ceased the occupation under the condition that Oh acknowledged he failed to take students’ opinions into consideration in the process of corporatization.
