[Figures] The long relationship between Professor CHON Young Ae of SNU's College of Humanities and the German poet Reiner KUNZE as a mentor and a student of German poetry was spotlighted in Hankyoreh Shinmun. Professor Chon translated Mr. Kunze's literature into Korean in the 1980s and was mentored by him upon publishing her first collection of German poems. Following the tradition of her ancestors, who donated small architecture to local society, Professor Chon is currently funding the construction of a traditional Korean style building which will be transported and rebuilt in Mr. Kunze's garden.

[Research] Professor LEE Hang's research team of SNU's College of Veterinary Medicine has discovered the ecology of otters, which are nearly extinct in Korea, through analyzing their excreta. The team analyzed the DNA found in the excreta with micro satellite markers and polymerase chain reaction techniques and reached the conclusion that at least seven otters are surviving in streams and rivers near Daegu.
