The employment rate of Seoul National University graduates for this year is 59.8%, which is 5.6% higher compared with last year, according to the results of the 2011 Employment Statistics of Higher Education Graduates in Reference to the National Health Insurance Database published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology together with the Korean Educational Development Institute.

The ranking of Seoul National University in view of the graduate employment rate, compared with that of the last year, climbed three places up to 8th this year.

Seoul National University Career Development Center (Director: Professor KIM Tae Wan, Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) conducts a complete enumeration survey on employment statistics of SNU graduates every year and gathers basic data through surveys provided by respective colleges and departments of the graduate school. These 2011 employment statistics are based on data gathered from August 2010 and February 2011 graduates. The Division of Career Counseling at the Career Development Center held a presentation session on the survey process for relevant personnel from every college and department on June 23, 2011.

The survey has enhanced its credibility through reference to the National Health Insurance Database since 2010, and has acquired more accurate values through verification on certificates of the students (Proof of enrollment, Certificate of Admission, etc.) submitted.

The Career Development Center offers various employment selection-based support programs: 1:1 employment consulting, a job application letter clinic, and a phasic employment education program. Also offered are corporation-supported education programs: senior seminars, global CEO seminars, corporation observation programs, and professional job seminars. Such diverse programs provided by the Center are continually attracting more participants, with twice as many participants in 2010 compared to that of 2009.

The Center is also maintaining and continuously updating its homepage (http://career.snu.ac.kr) to facilitate application to its programs, as well as posting real-time announcements and employment information through its mobile homepage (m.career.snu.ac.kr), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/snucdc) and Twitter account (www.twitter.com/snucdc).

The Center will hold the 2011 SNU Job Expo from September 6 to 7, 2011, allowing students and companies to exchange employment information. The Center will keep communicating with students to induce active participation and retain close contact with personnel managers of the companies.

The SNU Career Development Center will analyze, research, and implement ways to promote the quantitative growth of the employment rate of SNU graduates, as well as qualitative growth in terms of alumni experiencing lifelong satisfaction from their occupations and contribution to the country and society.
