    Off-Campus
There are several kinds of residences in Seoul. You can select your residence according to your lifestyle, economic allowance, and so on. And you should also decide whether to buy or rent, because that makes a significant difference.
If you are going to rent a house, there are two different rental systems, Jeonseh and Wolseh.
And the price of housing in each regional area varies considerably.
    Individual houses
This type of housing is becoming scarce these days in Seoul. So if you want to buy or rent an individual house,
it is very expensive compared to other types of residences.
    Apartments (Flats)
Most households in Korea prefer living in an apartment. It offers more security, guarded by security persons at each apartment building, and comes with an exclusive parking lot and a shared garden. Apartments often require payment of a higher maintenance fee than other types of residence. There are also expensive foreigners-only apartments in Seoul.
    Villas
A villa in Korea is like a townhouse in other countries. It is lower than 5 stories and includes about 10 units per building. Most villas are furnished and have a shared garden space, basic appliances such as a refrigerator, washer, dryer, air conditioner, and gas range. Each villa has 2~5 bedrooms and 1~2 bathrooms.
    Studios
Studios are the most common and cheapest way to live off-campus. Generally furnished, a studio is the favorite type of accommodation for most students. The price varies according to the size, location and options such as air-conditioning and washing machines. You may be able to negotiate a payment method which combines key money (Jeonseh) and monthly rent (Wolseh). For example, 40 million won key money with no monthly payment is equal to 10 million won key money with a 300,000 won monthly payment.
    Regional Differences
The cost of buying a house in Seoul is sometimes much more expensive than the cost in other regions in Korea, or in other countries. The cost differs depending on where you live. For example, Gangnam area¡¯s average cost per pyeong is three times as expensive as in Shillim-dong. Usually the price of a house is calculated according to its size (Korean property unit: 1 pyeong=3.3§³ ). The average price per pyeong is 100,000 won. The size of a residence on average is 165§³ - 330§³. Here are some examples from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
