  • Internet Services
Korea has an up-to-date information technology system. And Seoul is the city of the most cutting-edge IT technologies in Korea. Most people use ADSL connections instead of telephone lines, making the speed much faster. You can also use a wireless Internet service.
If you don¡¯t have your own PC, you can easily use a computer in a PC room (an Internet cafe). PC rooms are easy to find throughout all cities in Korea.

How to get access to the Internet

On your own PC (laptops, notebooks)
On campus, you can access the Internet through SNU¡¯s Wireless Network or WiBro. SNU¡¯s wireless network is available at no charge and in most buildings on campus. WiBro service is accessible everywhere on campus, but is not for free. You need to subscribe to the KT WiBro Internet Service. Off campus, you should use one of the Internet companies¡¯ services. From your own home Megapass, Xpeed, and Hanafos (wire) are available, and away from your home WiBro and NESPOT (both wireless) services are possible (and common) to use. The sign-up process is the same as that for a telephone. Visit the KT homepage (in Korean) or offline service centers or branches. Note that Internet services require payment of a subscription fee and the charge for renting a modem (usually, although some don¡¯t). And some services like Megapass ADSL offer a discount if you subscribe for a specified period such as 1, 2, or 3 years.

*Unfortunately, subscription websites are currently not available in English. Instead you may call the company directly.

    On other PCs

Internet Cafe (PC Bang) : PC Bangs are Korean internet cafes, and they are totally different from normal ¡®cafes¡¯. Although they are usually most suitable for online gaming, you can still enjoy the fastest Internet speed, the cheap price, and a fully personalized computing environment. The price is normally 600~1500 won per hour depending on the location of the PC Bang.
