Remodeling Old Railroad Bridge at Daegu
June 12, 2013 A task team of Professor BAEK Myung Jin’s of SNU’s College of Fine Arts Department of Design is leading the Daegu Ayang Railroad Bridge Remodeling Project. The bridge was originally planned to be demolished due to the relocation of railroad routes and unsatisfactory safety check results. more
Professor Kang Spoke about ‘Creativity Economy’
June 13, 2013 Professor KANG Tae Jin of SNU’s College of Engineering made a speech at the Second Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) Special Committee on Creative Economy (SCCE), which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul. Professor KANG pointed out ‘corporate led talent nurturing’ as the core of creative economy. Also, he asserted that ‘open innovation’ is the basis for creative economy. Open innovation is the synergy effect created by specialists from various fields forming network through sharing and cooperation. Professor Kang is known to be an advisor to President PARK Geun Hye concerning her idea of creative economy. more

June 18, 2013SNU President OH Yeon Cheon highlighted the importance of the long term relationship of Korea and China at the ‘SNU and Peking University Academic Dialogue about the Future of Korea and China’, which was held at Peking University in China on June 17. President OH insisted that the solid substructure of mutual cooperation in academic fields will fertilize as well the political and economic relationships of the two nations. more
Possible New Cure for Alzheimer’s
June 18, 2013 A research team led by Professor JUNG Yong Keun of SNU’s Department of Biological Sciences identified the protein that participates in the induction of Alzheimer’s disease and the working mechanism of the protein. Restraining or eliminating the function of the protein might be helpful for curing dementia. Alzheimer’s has been known to occur when the nephrotoxic chemical ‘amyloid-β (Aβ)’protein accumulates excessively in the brain. more
