Registration Procedures for Fall Semester of 2012

The application period for Reversion, Readmission, and Leave of Absence for the Fall Semester of 2012 is as follows:

1. 2012 Fall Semester Registration period
1) Registration period: Monday, August 20th, 2012 ~ Friday, August 24th, 2012. (5 days)
2) Location: Any branch of Nonghyup, Shinhan bank, or Woori Bank
*Additional fees will be incurred at the student’s own expense if the payment is made through institutions other than Nonghyup, Shinhan Bank, and Woori Bank.

2. Application for Reversion and Readmission
1) Reversion
(1) Period: Friday, June 15th, 2012 ~ Friday, September 21st, 2012.
(2) Procedure: Apply via the Internet and submit the document to the Administration Office of your department.
• Login to MySNU (http://my.snu.ac.kr) → Administrative Systems (학사행정) → Personal Information (개인정보) → Application for Reversion/Leave of Absence (휴복학 신청)
• Print out (click"출력" button) the web page within 3 days and submit the document, with the signature of your advisor in the faculty, to the Administration Office (data will be erased when not submitted within 7 days) of your department.
*Confirmation: MySNU → Adnimistrative Systems → Personal Information → Basic Information (기본인적) → check your status at School Register Change tab (학적변동)

2) Readmission
(1) Period
  • 1st round: Friday, June 15th, 2012 ~ Tuesday, July 31st, 2012.
  • 2nd round: Monday, August 6th , 2012 ~ Friday, August 17th, 2012.
(2) Procedure: submit the requested document to the Administration Office of your department. Application via the Internet will not be available. The 2nd round application will be available only when there are remaining seats after the 1st round.

3. Leave of Absence
1) Period:
  • Leave of Absence before Registration: Friday, June 15th, 2012 ~ Tuesday, September 25th, 2012.
  • Leave of Absence after Registration: Tuesday, August 21st , 2012 ~ Wednesday, October 24th, 2012.

2) Procedure: Refer to the instruction as described in application for Reversion

3) Notes
  • Students who want to apply for a Leave of Absence after Registration should pay tuition before taking the Leave of Absence. One cannot pay tuition after taking the Leave of Absence.
  • Leave of Absence is valid ONLY for TWO academic semesters (totaling to one calendar year). If a student has taken a Leave of Absence for a year, he/she must re-apply for Leave of Absence or apply for Returning to school. Otherwise, the student will be expelled.
  • Maximum aggregate term of absence
  • Undergraduate: 6 semesters
  • Master’s program: 4 semesters
  • Doctoral program: 6 semesters
  • MS & PhD. combined program: 8 semesters
   (However, absence due to military service, childbirth, and advised absence are not counted in this restriction.)
  • You will be dismissed from the school if you exceed these time allotments. Students whose Leave of Absence exceeds the given allotments on 2010 Fall Semester MUST return no matter when one has taken the Leave of Absence.

4. Cautions
1) If you are returning, and if you already paid the tuition fee before you took a leave of absence, you are automatically registered just by submitting the document.
2) Tuition fee levied upon students exceeding the standard 8 semesters depends on the number of credits that he or she registered. Please check the tuition fee on the tuition fee bill.
3) Students exceeding the standard 8 semesters who do not register for any credit will be dismissed.
