UCLA and SNU Reaffirm Alliance

To enhance further research collaboration between the two institutions, the academic exchange agreement between the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Seoul National University was renewed on June 23, 2008.

SNU and UCLA first concluded an academic exchange agreement in 1986, and it has been renewed every 5 years ever since. The agreement outlines the two universities’ commitment to research collaboration through the exchange of undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as academic information and knowledge.

UCLA is currently planning for the exchange of more students with diverse majors to and from Korea for various internships and programs, while SNU is also looking forward to the potential benefits this agreement will bring about in relation to its efforts to continually build upon its reputation internationally.

During his visit to the SNU Gwanak campus, UCLA President Gene Block expressed his hope of enhancing comprehensive academic exchanges between the two institutions, and commented that this agreement will encourage, and soon double the rate of, such opportunities.
