For those who wish to live at Gwanaksa in the fall semester, please refer to the following notice and apply at the Gwanaksa website during the given time. Please note that the waiting list numbers for the spring semester have expired; students who were wait-listed for the spring semester must follow the steps below to re-apply for the fall semester.
※ The order of application is completely irrelevant.
1. Eligibility
1) Qualifications: Students from outside of Seoul and foreigners who are/will be studying at the Gwanak
campus in Fall Semester, 2010.
A. Undergraduate students/ returning students
B. Graduate school students including freshmen and returning students
C. Graduate school research students: Students who can prove that they work full time (at least 5 full
days a week) on campus with no other occupations.
※ Only for current/ expectant research students (Sept. 2010)
※ Graduate students must register and submit a ‘Certification of full time graduate student’ (attatched)
to the Gwanaksa office during the designated period.
2) Restrictions
A. Students whose total GPAs are lower than 2.7(undergraduates), 3.0(graduates)
※ 2.0 for foreign students, both undergraduate and graduate
※ 2010 Summer Session grades are not included in the total GPA
B. Students who have contagious and/ or infectious diseases
C. Students who have a record of disciplinary action or eviction from a dormitory - 6 demerits or more
from their dormitory supervisor
D. Students who are not attending at the Gwanak Campus: students on leave, students who do not
attend full-time, 3rd and 4th grade students from the College of Nursing, students from the College
of Medicine
E. Residents in Seoul or nearby suburban areas: students whose family members (father and/or
mother), lives in Seoul or nearby suburban areas.
ㆍDefinition of “suburban areas”: Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, Anyang, Siheung, Gwacheon, Gunpo,
Uiwang, or Seongnam.
ㆍThe above rule does not apply to graduate school (research) students. However, students who
live in outside these areas will be given priorities.
F. Other reasons restricted by dormitory supervisor or committee
3) Priorities (given that, the student meets all the qualifications above)
A. Students who are a family member of a national meritorious person.
(This requires certification of the national meritorious person or tuition waiver forms from
the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs), students with disability, students whose parent(s)
is currently working abroad as a government employee.
B. National basic living support recipients (only for undergraduates, medical / education /
independence / property aid not included)
C. Students with physical handicaps or disability
D. Students whose parents are a government employee and dispatched abroad
2. Application Procedures
1) Application Period: Monday, August 2nd ~ Friday, August 6th, 2010.
2) How to Apply: via the Gwanaksa website (http://dorm.snu.ac.kr, click on ‘온라인 입사신청’).
3. Wait List Confirmation: Monday, August 9th, 2010, 11:00.
Check your status at the Gwanaksa website (click on ‘온라인 입사신청’ tab).
4. Announcement of Accepted Residents and Registration
1) 1st round
Announcement: Monday, August 16th, 2010, 11:00.
(Waiting numbers will be announced for those who have been accepted)
Registration: Tuesday, August 17th ~ Friday, August 20th, 2010 (Waiting number holders for
the corresponding accepted resident announcement)
2) 2nd round
Announcement: Monday, August 23rd, 2010, 11:00.
Registration: Tuesday, August 24th ~ Friday, August 27th, 2010.
3) Following announcements of additional admissions will be posted every Monday at 11:00 a.m.
4) Details regarding required documents and check-in dates will be notified with the announcement.
(Please prepare your medical examination papers beforehand)
5. Moving-in: Sunday, August 29th ~ Monday, August 30th, 2010. 09:00 ~ 18:00
(Lunch time exempt, 12:00 ~ 13:00).
1) Students who will check-in after August 30th should do so during 19:00~23:00 on weekdays,
through their dormitory supervisor.
2) Expected Building Arrangement
Single Rooms for Graduate Students: Bldg. 918
Double Rooms for Graduate Students: New Graduate House
Undergraduates (Double Rooms): Existing Undergraduate Houses (Bldg. 919, 921~6) or the New
Graduate House
6. Miscellaneous
1) Wait-listed students will be able to check-in if openings occur after the Fall Semester registration,
according to their waiting list numbers
2) If false entries are found in your application qualification information (GPAs, addresses etc.) your
acceptance will be cancelled; if it is found after check-in you will be forced to check out
3) On the account of temporary absence, voluntary leave from school, or graduation, you must check
out voluntarily. You will be forced to check out on disclosure.
4) Please refer to the Gwanaksa website for living regulations or further dormitory concerned information.
5) Notices will be uploaded on the Gwanaksa website. Please call the Gwanaksa administrative office
(880-5404) for further inquiries.
6) Students who were wait-listed for the Spring Semester must apply again.
7) Multiple Applications for Graduate Students
For multiple applications, you will receive a waiting list number for both single and double rooms; you must check-in to whichever room is available for check-in first(e.g. if your turn comes for a double room and check-in is available, you cannot choose to remain wait-listed for a single room. In such case, you will be disqualified for registration). In cases of additional admission, if your turn for both single and double rooms comes at the same time, your choice will not be reflected.
