Global Korea Scholarship for Outstanding International Students

Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is provided for outstanding, self-financed international students. Please refer to the following and apply.

1. Number of Students Selected (nationwide): 200

2. Terms of Scholarship: Up to 6,000,000KRW in the form of 500,000/month *12 months will be given to
                                          the students at the end of each month.

3. Qualifications: The applicant must meet ALL of the following qualifications.
   ① A self-financed international student (2nd, 3rd, or 4th year) studying at a university of Korean nationality 
       on the date of application.
      ※ Graduate students, junior college students, cyber college students, and those who have enrolled 
          for the 4th year without actually taking any courses are excluded.
   ② The student’s previous semester GPA must be over 80 on a 100 point scale (rounded off to the first 
       decimal place)
   ③ The student must have acquired over level 4 in TOPIK.
      ※ Students who are already receiving a similar scholarship from the Korean government,
          their universities or other institutions (more than 300,000 KRW per month of living expenses)
          are excluded.

4. Application Documents
   ① 4 copies of Application Form (1 original + 3 copies)
      ※ Inquire to the SNU OIA for the Application Form.
      ※ The English name of the student on the application form must be identical to the name
          on their passport.
   ② 1 copy of Passport
   ③ 1 copy each of Proof of Enrollment and Transcript (during the student’s entire enrollment period)
      ※ If you are a transfer student, you must also turn in your transcript for your previous school.
      ※ The transcript must state your GPA in the ‘100 point scale.’ If you fill in your previous semester GPA 
          in this form by hand, you must receive verification from the person in charge.
   ④ TOPIK Report Card (only those within 2 years of taking are valid, copies must receive verification 
       from the person in charge) 
   ⑤ 4 copies of Letter of Self Introduction, Statement of Purpose (no specific format,1 original + 3 copies)
   ⑥ 1 copy of Letter of Recommendation 
      ※ No specific format, but please include specific and personal information on the applying student, 
          the basic information (including contact information) of the applicant and the person who is writing 
          the letter of recommendation and the signature of the recommender. The letter must be sealed when
           handed in.
   ⑦ Other (only those who are relevant): Certified English scores (Students who are not from English
       speaking countries and have a high score; please inquire to the SNU OIA for details), other awards,
       proof of volunteer activities etc.

   When submitting the documents, please prepare them in the following order, bound with a clip:
   Set 1: Application form (original) + Passport + Proof of Enrollment + Transcript (previous school, current
            school)+ TOPIK Report Card + Letter of Self Introduction (original) + Letter of Recommendation +
            Other 
   Set 2: Application form (copy) + Letter of Self Introduction (copy)
   Set 3: Application form (copy) + Letter of Self Introduction (copy)
   Set 4: Application form (copy) + Letter of Self Introduction (copy)

   ※ Your application may be rejected if its contents are false or inadequate.
   ※ You may lose your scholarship holder status if changes occur in your academic status.
   ※ Documents will not be returned once submitted.

5. Deadline for Application: Monday, February 28th, 2011, to the OIA
