Seoul National University's Museum of Art (MoA) is holding an exhibition on modern-day metal works. The exhibition,"Talking Hands: Spectrum of Contemporary Metal Works" has around 200 works, ranging from traditional handmade pieces to jewelry to sculptures, by 89 artists on display.

Internationally famous craft artisans Bruce Metcalf and Rudolf Bott held discussion sessions on June 5th, 2009, from 2:00-6:00PM with many interested art-lovers in attendance. The artists strived to heighten the public’s understanding of the crafts by tracing the evolution of current international and Korean trends.

This exhibition is a great opportunity to see the international trends in contemporary crafts. The common stereotype, that craftwork is old-fashioned and boring, will be disproven. Included in the collection are many futuristic pieces of work upon which visitors can reflect and ponder current day issues.

Artistic values such as the exploration of different materials and methods, the balance between practicality and beauty, and the symbolization of the present, are spoken even louder by hands.

This exhibition will be held through June 20th, open for all to experience the wonder of creation from everyday materials.
