[Research] Professor OH Dong-Chan of SNU's College of Pharmacy has been selected as one of the first recipients of the 'Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) International Early Career Scientist' award. This is the first time HHMI is providing research grants to a non-US researcher and Oh will receive a total of 715,000 dollars for all five years. Professor Oh’s research promotes the development of new medicine by culturing microorganisms.

[Donation] SNU's College of Humanities announced on January 20 that the donation of 1.3 billion KRW from the late novelist Ms. PARK Wan-suh will be used for postgraduate researchers in the humanities, including non-SNU members. Each year, one postgraduate will be appointed the "Park Wan-Suh Fund Research Fellow" after evaluation of his/her theses and research plans by the College of Humanities. Ms. Park Wan-Suh entered SNU's Department of Korean Language and Literature in 1950 but could not complete
her studies due to the onset of the Korean War. She passed away in January 2011.

[Donation] Mr. JUNG Yun Hwoan, CEO of Ilsung Chemical Co. and an alumnus of SNU's College of Agriculture, donated 1 billion KRW to SNU. He is already providing 10 million KRW to the students of SNU's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences every year. Mr. Jung founded Ilsung Chemical in 1978 and is now the head of the association of SNU agriculture graduates, and the vice president of the association of SNU graduates.
